Is it possible to watch over my house when I'm not at home?
Our LOGAN devices are effectively designed to be able to observe in real time from any device that has Internet access, with this advantage you can stay up-to-date on what’s (what is) happening in your properties, giving you the opportunity of making fast decisions in a matter of minutes.
It important to indicate that for the use of remote viewing anywhere in the world through smartphones, it must be connected to a WIFI network, this will allow you an efficient and a real-time connection. If you want to make use of the mobile data of your smartphone, a higher transmission speed (for example 4G) is recommended, which allows a constant visualization.
Who can see my cameras?
You can only watch your video, pictures or control your camera, also you give the possibility to watch your cameras to other people that you want. There are several levels of security that you can activate or deactivate as long as you wish to broadcast public images or have a strict private control:
- Access is encrypted using an ID and password.
- The device dministrator can assign to each person a username and password to use the features that you decide.
- Anyone who sees your cameras must have the software installed on a PC with the IP address, computer ID, system user name and password to access the system.
- The same data as in the previous point is required for access by mobile devices
- If you connect it to the Internet using WIFI, the connection is encrypted according to your security network system (WEP, WAP or WAP2).
- Assign a static private and unique internet address (URL) to access the camera.
What do I need to connect the DVR with Internet?
To make the DVR connection with Internet and be able to access the images from remote sites is necessary to have an Internet service, also have a router. In case that exist connections of other devices with the router, you have to make sure that the router has one or more free network connectors.
What are the requirements to be able to view the images through a mobile phone?
In order to access the live remote viewing through a mobile phone, you must install one of the applications corresponding to your device's model on your mobile phone. However, for your convenience we have created an APP called LOGAN SECURITY that integrates all the LOGAN APPs corresponding to every LOGAN device, this will make easier the downloads to each and every one of them.
These applications work with the following operating systems: Android and Apple IPhone. To correctly perform this installation, refer to the manual of your device.
**Note: The compatibility between the Play Store or the App Store with the versions of Android and IPhone respectively, could change according to each application and can be located in the description of each one
Thanks to the P2P feature of most DVRs, it is not necessary to configure the router or open ports to view DVR images from the outside, as long as your DVR is connected to the internet at source. Through the application you will configure the devices so that you can see the images on any mobile device anywhere in the world.
What do I do if I don't see the cameras on the internet?
There may be several reasons for your remote viewing to stop working. Here are the steps to verify the problem:
- Make sure that the cameras are connected to the DVR, which must be turned on.
- Connect a monitor to the DVR to verify that the security cameras are visible.
- Check the internet connection at your location. (Enter from your cell phone or computer to a web page).
- Make sure the DVR is connected to your router using a UTP cable
- Try enter to your DVR through your computer IP
If the above steps did not solve the problem, then some changes have occurred in your router that doesn't allow the DVR to communicate with your network.
Do I have to modify settings on my router?
Port Forwarding means assigning a port number to the internal IP address of your DVR, you have to do it directly to your router.
If your security device is enable with P2P connection, you will avoid port forwarding. For some analog models, it's necessary to perform this procedure because they don't have this technology.
Check your router manual. For more information, please check the technical specifications of the DVR model or contact our Technical Support Department at support@logan-cam.com
How many days / weeks of recording can I store?
This is a very common question among users of video surveillance systems. This depends on many factors:
- Recording mode: 24-hour mode or motion detection. If you choose to record for 24 hours continuously, the recording size will increase in comparison if you only record when the DVR detects some motion or if you choose to record only at certain times of the day (only at night for example).
- Image Recording Quality: Choosing a high quality recording will result in a larger recording file.
- Image resolution: the size of each image capture. At higher resolution, more disk space is needed and therefore less retention time for disk images.
- Hard drive size: DVR HDD size. The larger the disk size, the longer the recording time available. It's advisable to start from 500 GB for small installations (4 cameras) up to 2TB. Some recorder models support up to two SATA HDDs.
- Frame Rate or FPS (frames per second): The more frames per second the more disk space we will need. An amount of 30 FPS is equivalent to a real-time recording. From 25 FPS, we are already talking about a high quality recording. Around 15 FPS, the quality of recording is normal, similar to that of a human eye. Basically, more frames are translated into more photos and more photos means more data, it also means less recording time.
Below is a comparative table of the different storage capacities depending on the case:

What happens when my hard drive gets full?
DVRs operate cyclically. It's recorded on the first recorded data, it means that if your disc supports 90 days of recording (2 TB Hard Drive), the information will be overwritten in the first minute of the recording of 90 days ago, so that it keeps always recorded the last 90 days.
How can you see the recordings?
Recordings made on your DVR can be played locally or remotely. Enter to the menu option of the recordings and select the day and hours to be playback.
How can you make extractions of the recordings?
On the menu of your DVR you must select the hour sections that you want to extract, or the pictures that you want to save. This files are extracted from the DVR through a flash drive or external memory connected in the USB ports of the DVR itself.
What range of vision do the cameras have?
The security cameras don't have such limitation in range of vision, this depends on the millimeters of the lens and the size of the sensor. Also the camera resolution and the amount of lighting in the environment play an important role there. However, in night vision is limited by the amount or intensity of IR Leds available to the camera. It might vary from 5 to 30 mts.
Will my cameras activate if motion detected?
Yes. All cameras record through their DVR when they detect movement unless continuous recording is established. This feature helps save hard drive space. It also makes it easy to view the records files, since you will not have to check for hours and hours of nonsense video. Once the hard drive is full of video data, the system begins to overwrite the oldest data automatically.

You can also install an indoor camera with an outdoor housing.

What does IP66 mean?
IP66 is generally a classification of outdoor cameras and defines the ability of the camera to keep out of foreign objects. The "IP" stands for Ingress Protection. The first numeric digit describes the classification given for solid objects. The rating of 6, is the highest rating, and it means that the camera is dustproof. The second numeric digit defines how well the camera can resist liquids. The rating of 6 means that the camera is protected against heavy jets of water.

What’s the average range of a Wireless IP Security Camera?
It will depend on the location radio of the place where it'll be located, think that you'll always be able to place better devices and access point, better antennas (high gain antennas have a high cost), so in principle should not frighten you the distance, there is always a solution like using signal repeaters. Generally the maximum distance between the IP camera and the router is 30 meters, depending on the broadcast of your router.
How useful is that the IP camera have a microSD card slot?
microSD cards are very economical recording media in which the IP camera can save the videos and images it captures. Models with microSD card slot allow you to insert microSD cards in which the camera can store the recordings you make (video, screenshots or both). This utility makes the camera truly autonomous in recording and doesn't need a hard drive or be connected to a computer to record the videos.
These models with microSD slot support cards up to 32 GB (in some models up to 128 GB.
Images and videos recorded on the SD card can be viewed both locally and remotely, accessing the camera from any computer in the world.
